Parsing Error in XML Site Map File - HELP! - 2007/09/21 23:38
I'm getting the follow error message whenever I try to access my XML site map:
XML Parsing Error: not well-formed Location: http://www.isfforum.com/component/option,com_sefservicemap/task,xmlmap/apm;tmpl,component/no_html,1/
Line Number 292, Column 92:<tr align="left"><td><a href="http://www.isfforum.com/index.php?option=com_deeppockets&task=catShow&id=1&Itemid=38" class="mainlevel" >Display Technology</a></td></tr>
I'm at a loss why this is occurring. For one thing, I actually have the menu item for page excluded in the SEF Service Map Structure section of the control panel. FWIW, my TXT sitemap file works perfectly.
Another related question: I understand that I should directly submit my XML sitemap to Google, but what about other search engine crawlers that can make use of XML sitemaps. Again, my understanding is that the file should be placed in the robots.txt file, but does it matter where the file is located and do I need to do anything for this file to be updated. Specifically, if I add new content, do I need to refresh my sitemap to update the XML and TXT files, or does this happen automatically behind the scenes?
Finally, is there any benefit to SEFing my XML and TXT sitemap files?
