Caching when logged in - 2007/12/04 18:10 Hello,

We are using JAccelerator 1.16 on a Joomla 1.0.12 site.

When we are logged into the frontend of the site the caching seems to work differently than when we are not logged in. When you are not logged in the first time that you load a page it is very slow, but then every load afterwards is quite quick. no matter how many pages have been loaded between accessing the page the first time and the next time. But when you are logged in the frontend, the first load of a page is slow, if you go and load 5 or 6 new pages and then go back to the first page, it is very slow to load again. So, if I load page 1, then 2, then 3, then 4, then 5, then 6, then 1, then 6, then 1. The first load of page 1 and the second load will both be slow but the third time will be fast. If I then load page 2, then 3, then 4 and then 1 again, once again page 1 will load slowly. It is as if logged in pages are not cached the same way as non-logged in pages.

Is this behavior normal for JAccelerator? Is there a way to get it to work the same when logged in and not logged in?

Thank you.

Re:Caching when logged in - 2007/12/05 11:10 Yes - it's standard.
When the user is logged in, the system automatically erases data from cache, regardless of the fact, whether time of their existence in cache is finished or not; that is why the changes are instantly visible and re-saved in cache.

Re:Caching when logged in - 2007/12/05 18:57 Thank you for your reply.

When you are not logged in the first access is slow, which is expected. But when anyone after that access the page, it should be fast. What we are finding is that the first access for each different user/browser is slow and then faster after that. We thought that the cache was being stored on the server, so once someone has accessed the page on the site, anyone else that tries to load the page should then get a fast load as the page had already been cached by the other user. This does not seem to be the case, each user/browser is getting the slow first access.

Should this be happening?

Thanks.
